How to Heal a Broken Heart

Did you know that you could die of a broken heart? It is possible that the real

reason is from spending too much time dwelling on the past and not enough time focused

on the present and the future. The future is yours to define, you just have take deliberate

steps to reshape your tomorrow. Your future is in your hands. Jesus said, “I have come

that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” Do you want to accept abundant

life or do you want to live in the past?

The question that is before us is, how do you heal a broken heart? First, remembering is essential. Remember the life, if it applies, the illness, the death and the

burial of the deceased. Spent time in informal and formal settings remembering. Next,

deal with any unfinished business. The best way to do this is write a letter to the

deceased, sharing good times and bad times. Don’t expect an answer. Instead, expect that

just expressing content and feelings will lift a burden.

Thirdly, reshaping life is your goal for this process. Find ways to complete the tasks that used to be completed by the

deceased. Then make a five-year strategic plan for your life that may include work,

fun/travel, family, friends and church. Start with your Vision and Mission. Your vision

should be broad and could continue past your lifetime. Your mission should be

achievable within your five-year plan. Next. Goals, then Activities to complete goals and

finally, Evaluation that tells how you will know when you have completed your goals.

Consider adding sections on Challenges and Obstacles. There are more complex models

for strategic plans that you can Google. The point is that it is time to heal your broken

heart. Healing your broken heart could be your finally gift to your deceased loved one.

Consider that the first four letters in Health is Heal!
